Islam Is A Peaceful Religion: Adam Deen in an Oxford Union Debate following the murder of a British Soldier by an Islamist fanatic in Woolwich

By Adam Deen
It's quite easy to assume from the sensations headlines at the very idea of speaking about Islam peace seems nonsensical. After all week doesn't does not go by without a extremist Muslim hitting the headlines. And this evening our esteemed speakers arguing for the opposition are going to paint this sinister picture referring to the usual polemics and we had a taste of that so far, but what I would say in order to assess the debate this evening effectively, we must distinguish the Muslim, the imperfect practitioner from Islam. The spiritual message and the ethical ideals and interacting adhered to, and also what I would say is that we must allow Islam to define itself, not Saudi Arabia but all these horrible places that were mentioned. We must allow Islam to define itself and assess how Islam sees itself in its entirety.
