Hazrat Syed Badshah Qadri Yemeni of Raichur, Karnataka: A Dedicated Mystic of the Qadri Silsila

Based in Raichur and later at Halkatta Shareef near Wadi, his khanqah became a spiritual center attracting devotees from Karnataka and beyond. Main Points: 1. Born in 1903 in Raichur, Karnataka 2. Spiritual lineage continued by his grandson, Hazrat Abu Turab Shah Qadri ----- Early Life and Family Background Born in Raichur, Karnataka, in 1903 (1324 Hijri) on the day of Eid al-Adha (Bakrid) means the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, Hazrat Syed Shah Muhammad Badshah hailed from a Saaadaat family originally from Yemen. His family traced their descent from Hazrat Imam Hasan ibn Imam Maula Ali, the grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad. His father, Hazrat Syed Shah Muhammad Yaqoob, was known for his piety and knowledge. His paternal uncle, Hazrat Shah Nabi Mohiuddin Qadri, a renowned and known sufi, played a pivotal role in his early spiritual education. Sufi Initiation and Spiritual Training Hazrat Syed Badshah became a disciple of his uncle, Hazrat Shah Muhammad Nabi Mohiuddin Qadri. He later became a disciple of Hazrat Shaykh Kareemullah Shah Qadri. Before Hazrat Kareemullah's death, he passed the leadership of the Qadiriyya order to Hazrat Syed Badshah, who then became known as "Qadri Yemeni," reflecting his Qadiriyya affiliation and Yemeni ancestry. Teachings and Thought Hazrat Syed Mohammad Badshah emphasised universal brotherhood and peace. He was affectionately known as "Qadeer Allah" by his followers. While specific writings or letters are not documented, his teachings have been preserved through oral traditions and the continued practices at his Khanqah. Dargah and Urs Celebrations Hazrat Syed Badshah is entombed at Halkatta Shareef, located outside of Wadi in the Gulbarga District of Karnataka. An annual Urs, attracting thousands of devotees from various regions, marks the saint's union with the divine and is a significant event for his followers. Legacy and Succession After his death in 1978, Hazrat Syed Badshah's spiritual work continued under the guidance of his son and successor, Hazrat Syed Ibrahim Shah Qadri.
