Zohran Mamdani's Unstoppable Rise Shatters Misconceptions And Debunks Myths About Him

By Mohammed Khaku for New Age Islam 18 October 2025 Mamdani openly showcased his political stance after winning the primary, sharing a victory post on X. “It’s official: we won. I’m going to Albany to fight to tax the rich, heal the sick, house the poor & build a socialist New York…I am Donald Trump’s worst nightmare as a progressive Muslim immigrant who actually fights for the things that I believe in,” he declared. He also emphasized his independence from billionaire backers, contrasting himself with Cuomo, stating: “I don’t have to pick up the phone for Bill Ackman or Ken Langone.” Zohran Mamdani's unstoppable rise has shattered misconceptions and debunked myths about him. His journey, as a strong contender for New York City’s next mayor, highlights both the opportunities and challenges his ascent poses for the Democratic Party. He has rattled the business elite in the heart of capitalism, who, despite spending millions on attack ads calling him anti-Semitic and a socialist jihadist, have been unable to halt Mamdani’s momentum. His primary victory is sending shockwaves across the United States, disrupting the old guard of the Democratic Party and challenging the Zionist lobby. Attention is turning to students and younger generations, who are outspoken against the billions in aid provided to the occupying regime in Israel. Zohran Mamdani, a young Muslim progressive running for New York’s mayoral seat against independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa, has faced relentless propaganda and misinformation. Challenging the core of capitalism, he has unsettled the business elite, who, despite spending millions on attack ads labeling him a radical socialist extremist, couldn’t hinder his rise. Mamdani’s rise to prominence has naturally drawn sharp criticism, with centrists in his party and right-wing figures labeling him an extreme far-left radical. After defeating Cuomo, he became a target for Donald Trump, who wasted no time spreading smears and threats against him. With the election just three weeks away, the situation has been further complicated by a surge of misinformation about Mamdani, much of it laced with anti-Semitic and Islamophobic hatred. Even JPMorgan Chase’s chief, Jamie Dimon, has called Mamdani a “Marxist.” Mamdani is legally residing in the country and has no ties to 9/11 or jihadist terrorism. He hasn’t made any antisemitic statements or actions, nor has he supported the idea of “globalizing the intifada” or identified as a communist. The criticism he faces from Zionists, billionaires, and Republicans, often hostile, appears to stem from his religious and ethnic background, political stance, and outspoken views on India and Palestine. Why is the neo-colonial Zionist acting so enraged? Zohran Mamdani’s political views stem from a family tradition of anti-colonial and pro-Palestinian activism. His middle name, “Kwame,” reflects his pan-African heritage and honors Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah, a leader in pan-African liberation. His father, scholar Mahmood Mamdani, once stated, “Jews deserve a homeland (Florida or Uganda) but not a state,” a remark that drew criticism from pro-Israel groups. His mother, filmmaker Mira Nair, has supported the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement and declined to attend a Haifa film festival in 2013 due to her opposition to Israel’s policies. Zohran co-founded Students for Justice in Palestine, supports Black Lives Matter, and is active in Within Our Lifetime, a grassroots pro-Palestine organization. These connections tie him to global leftist activism and position him against AIPAC and Zionist lobbying efforts. The criticism Zohran Mamdani faces from Zionist media stems from his progressive views, activism, and statements about the occupying regime, which some see as controversial or provocative. Despite this, he garners significant support from younger activists, including Jewish individuals, while encountering opposition from older, affluent White Zionists. A few months back, Mamdani was hardly known, but now he’s a global and American sensation. In New York, he can’t step outside without being mobbed for photos. What’s his secret? You need to speak a language everyone connects with and tackle the struggles people face every day—the ones that shape their lives. As Fiorello La Guardia once said, ‘you can’t preach self-government and liberty to people who are starving.’” A new Quinnipiac poll shows Zohran Mamdani ahead with 46% of likely voters, followed by Andrew Cuomo at 33% and Curtis Sliwa at 15%. While poised to become the youngest mayor in a century, Mamdani faces hurdles like Islamophobia and accusations of socialism and jihadism. He’ll manage the nation’s largest police force, oversee the biggest education department, handle a $115 billion municipal budget, and lead over 300,000 employees. On top of that, potential disruptions from Trump could make his journey even more challenging. Zohran Mamdani, the leading mayoral candidate, has swiftly risen from being a backbencher in the state Legislature to potentially becoming New York City's leader in just three weeks. The outspoken socialist tops the polls ahead of the Nov. 4 election, with a platform promising free buses, universal childcare, and city-run grocery stores. To fund his ambitious $10 billion plans, he aims to increase taxes on the wealthiest individuals and corporations. Meanwhile, Wall Street elites have thrown their support behind Andrew Cuomo, with billionaire hedge fund investor Bill Ackman donating $1 million to an anti-Mamdani PAC. Over just one week, Cuomo’s super PAC raised $1.3 million from billionaire heirs and an oil and gas CEO to combat Mamdani’s progressive agenda. ---- Check out the link below for the Super PAC supporting Mamdani.
