Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, serving a 20-year jail term for raping two of his disciples, walked out of Sunaria prison in Haryana's Rohtak on Tuesday after being granted a 40-day parole.

This parole charade has become so frequent in this scoundrel's case that it has stopped grabbing the headlines. Instead of granting parole and furlough at ridiculously regular intervals, won't it be advisable to acquit this rogue once and for all who raped many women and also killed those who dared to challenge him?
Is he different from other criminals? Has he bribed the government and judiciary? In a country, where a former Chief Justice vacates his official residence after 9 months, that too after an exchange of recriminations, can you expect fair play and honesty?
It's now obvious that the government of Haryana openly intervenes in his case and ensures that he must get paroles and furloughs repeatedly. The latest parole granted by the court to Ram Rahim Singh comes months after he walked out of the Sunaria jail in Haryana’s Rohtak after being granted a 21-day furlough in April. In January, Singh was granted a 30-day parole, ahead of the February 5 Delhi Assembly polls. He was also granted a 20-day parole on October 1 last year, ahead of the October 5 Haryana Assembly polls.
All dubious Babas like this ruffian and another rapscallion Asaram are out on parole or interim bail. Their scores of brainless followers are still genuflecting before them. In fact, because of the followers still worshipping these lecherous and lascivious characters, getting a parole or bail is a child's play for them.
Babas and gurus like Asaram, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Aniruddhacharya, Peela baba Premanand, among others thrive on the collective gullibility of their countless followers.
They're not true saints like Kabir, Tukaram, Eknath or Thiruvalluvar, commonly known as Valluvar. These people are fashionable religious raconteurs (kathavaachak) who're accustomed to a sybaritic lifestyle.
A genuine saint is always away from the limelight and crowd whereas today's babas will go to any length to hog the limelight.
Since the government and judiciary are absolutely impotent, people will have to be united to force the government and judiciary not to grant bail, parole or furlough to these hooligans. But here people are so docile and religiously so frightened that Mirza Ghalib's apt lines spring to mind, "Koi Ummeed Bar Nahin Aati / Koi Soorat Nazar Nahin Aati..." (No hope is fulfilled, no prospect is seen).
